If you undertake any of the following activities and provide personal data to us we will endeavour to make it clear why we need it and to obtain your specific consent to use it. Unless otherwise notified you will be treated as having consented to our use of your personal data under the terms of this Policy if you:

This includes information you provide when you do any of the following things:

In particular for sailing coaching and training clients the information you give us may include:

  • the name, address, email address and phone number of your next of kin and/or emergency contact (eg sailing coach clients);
  • details of any relevant training records and training plans;
  • details of your qualifications including the results of any nationally recognised examination, assessments, training course or vocational qualifications
  • details of your participation and performance in sporting events and competitions;
  • details of any relevant boating, yachting or other sea faring experience you may have;
  • health information including details of your age, gender, height, weight and any particular health conditions or mental or physical impairments you may have

  • any person makes a booking for any of our training courses, facilities or other services on your behalf;

  • we take up references for you or seek verification of any of your qualifications from any referee you may have put forward.

If you are an existing customer, we will only contact you by electronic means (e-mail or SMS) with information about goods and services similar to those which were the subject of a previous sale or negotiations of a sale to you.   • business partners, (for example Watertight Marketing), suppliers and sub-contractors for the performance of any contract we enter into with you;
  • to your prospective employers and any other persons you may refer to us for the purpose of obtaining from us any references or verification of your qualifications or experience;
  • analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our site;
  • credit reference agencies for the purpose of assessing your credit score where this is a condition of us entering into a contract with you;

F. RETENTION OF YOUR INFORMATION

We may keep and process your personal data for so long as you remain a customer, partner, supplier, sub-contractor or business contact.

G. WHERE WE STORE YOUR PERSONAL DATA

The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the EEA. It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of recognised training centres or suppliers.  Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of your order, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing.  We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers and/or via our Capsule CRM system, and/or electronic mailing system (Mailchimp) if you have opted in to receive news and updates. Any payment transactions will be processed by PayPal in accordance to their security standards. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

H. USE OF THE INTERNET

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to us; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

You also have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act.  Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.
